MISTAKE #3 // NOT APPRECIATING THE PROGRESS YOU HAVE MADE

Sometimes it’s important to tell yourself that you are totally kicking but! Go on, tell yourself right now, I dare you!

Come on, fess up. Are you sometimes guilty of only seeing things in black and white? It’s easily done, especially when it comes to working out. All too often we ignore the hard, sweaty work we’ve put in along the way and instead, focus on the end result. 

It’s a shame that we’re our own frenemy in this sense because for one, it’s like constantly hanging with Grumpy Cat and secondly, you don’t get to celebrate all the progress you’ve made. Which, take it from me, is much more fun. 

Yes, there may have been a few slips ups (you’re not perfect after all– see Day 2). Like the day you didn’t go to yoga because you had a hangover. Or the time you stopped your home workout mid way through because it clashed with your favourite episode of Gosspi Girl. And Gossip Girl won. But what about the times when you did bend and stretch your way through yoga? Or the days you completed your home workout first. It’s these times that you need to cheer about!

So, how can you celebrate your achievements? By rewarding yourself with little gestures and treats - that’s how. How about shaking things up and searching out a new online workout? You know that sexy, slashed-back workout top? It’s got someone’s name on it…. That said, you don’t need to shell out loads of money each time you want to celebrate. It could be a five minute ‘screen shop’ through Instagram to check out the latest workout gear. Or, having a much-needed catch-up with your bestie but whilst power walking your way around the park rather than sat in a café?

"It is essential that you continuously celebrate every positive step you take, and forgive yourself for the slip ups." 

 

Every tiny step you take in the right direction should be celebrated and appreciated.
